Amazon and Nissan Place Giant Locker in San Francisco

Earlier this month, a giant, mysterious, orange locker appeared in San Francisco. Initially, the only clues as to what could be inside were the fact that both the Amazon and Nissan logos were slapped on the side.

As the mystery continued to brew, the two companies finally spilled the beans about the giant locker. Passersby are encouraged to post photos and comments using the hashtag #giantlocker. This could earn them unique codes that will open doors on the locker letting them win a variety or prizes, including Amazon music downloads, and more.

“One lucky participant will get the surprise of a lifetime when his/her code opens the giant door, and s/he wins a new Nissan Rogue,” a Nissan spokeswoman said.

We hope the 2014 Nissan Rogue is this color and not the same color as the box… But a free car is a free car!

This joint marketing feat is part of Amazon and Nissan’s continued partnership. Last year, Amazon started selling Nissan cars online and even delivered one Nissan Versa Note in a giant Amazon box—the cars usually have to be picked up at a local dealership.

Nissan Unveils 2015 370Z NISMO at ZDayZ Event

Each year hundreds of Nissan Z-car enthusiasts gather in North Carolina for the ZDayZ convention. This year, Nissan joined in the fun and to everyone’s surprise unveiled the all-new 2015 Nissan 370Z NISMO.

“NISMO is the heart and soul of Nissan performance, both for the track and on the street, so it’s fitting that we are showing the dramatic new 2015 370Z NISMO for the first time at a gathering of our most loyal and enthusiast owners,” said Nissan Chief Planning Officer and Executive Vice President, Andy Palmer, in a statement. “The new 370Z NISMO joins the recently introduced Nissan GT-R NISMO and Nissan JUKE NISMO RS, giving performance fans a range of fresh, factory tuned NISMO models to enjoy.”

The day before the big reveal, Nissan released a single teaser image and basically said there would be a “special global NISMO debut” at the event. And, it sure is special.

From that single teaser image its hard to tell how closely the 2015 370Z NISMO will resemble this 2014 Nissan 370Z

The most striking change in the 370Z is the new exterior, which is inspired by the GT-R. It has an aerodynamic body with a deep front fascia and scoop, smooth LED Hyper Daytime Running Lights, black headlight bezels, and red accents on the front chin spoiler, side sills, and sideview mirrors.

Inside, the NISMO inspiration continues with black and red exclusive Recaro seats that will maximize harmony between the car and driver.

This amazing new model will be available this summer. Give us a call at Economy Nissan to find out how to get yourself a 2015 Nissan 370Z NISMO.

Nissan Altima Turned into Racer for Ride of Your Life

Admittedly, when you think about buying a midsize sedan like the Nissan Altima, a thrilling ride is usually not part of the equation, but what would happen if it were?

Ride of Your Life

The Nissan Altima has the ability to provide you the “Ride of Your Life”

That’s what Nissan was thinking in its latest campaign called “Ride of Your Life.” Nissan invited some people to take a ride in what it calls “Nissan’s most advanced Altima race car.” They get strapped in for some high-speed thrilling laps and then get a big surprise when they pull in for a pit stop.

We don’t want to spoil the surprise, so watch the video first.

Did you watch it? Good.

Wasn’t that incredible! With the exception of a few minor modifications (increased exhaust noise and obvious visual changes) this is a stock 3.5 SL Altima.

Electric 2014 Nissan LEAF Slips Unnoticed through Quiet French Town

The French get a lot of flak for their seemingly distant ways, but once you get to know them, you experience how warm and loving they can be. Because of this inward show of emotion, French people tend to be more quiet than others and there’s one French village called Provence Alpes Cote d’Azur that is known as “one of the quietest villages Europe.”

Even the interior of the 2014 Nissan LEAF looks quiet

To show off the skills of the electric Nissan LEAF, and to celebrate International Noise Awareness Day, Nissan sent the LEAF on a high-speed race in the middle of the night through the streets of that quiet French town.

Also on hand was a team of filmmakers so we can see the stunt for ourselves.

Even after one bang and a smash (trash cans and side mirror), everyone in the town continued sleeping peacefully.

Do you need a little more peace and quiet in your life? Check out the silent ride on the zero-emissions 2014 Nissan LEAF available now at Economy Nissan.

Nissan Puts Self-Cleaning Paint to the Test

Washing your car is a necessary step in prolonging the life of your car. However, it’s something most of us probably neglect doing for months, especially in the winter. Now, Nissan is testing a revolutionary new paint that may make washing your car a thing of the past.

Nissan has released a video that shows this super-hydrophobic and oleophobic paint, that repels water and dirt, in action on the Nissan Note.

The self-cleaning paint, which is made by UltraTech and sold under the name Ultra-Ever Dry, works by creating a layer of air between the paint and the rest of the world. This causes water and dirt to roll right off of the car surface.

Nissan says the self-cleaning paint is production ready, but has said it won’t be included as standard on production models. However, there’s a strong probability it will end up as an optional dealer add-on.

Would you add this paint to your next Nissan car, if it were available now?
